2024년 에보미디어레지던시는 ‘Awakening(각성)’을 주제로, 작가 개인의 서사와 도심 속 우리네 삶을 연결합니다. ‘작가적 깨어있음’, ‘이 시대의 일깨움’, 그리고 ‘존재의 살아있음’을 중심으로, 참여 작가들은 자신만의 언어로 사적인 세계를 풀어내며, 감각과 서사의 교차점을 탐색합니다.

Evo Media Residency 2024 unfolds under the theme “Awakening”, connecting each artist’s personal narrative with the rhythms of urban life.

Through “artistic awareness,” “societal awakening,” and “the vitality of being,” participating artists explore the intersections of personal language, sensory perception, and storytelling in their own ways.

- On The Ground 

2023년 에보미디어레지던시는 지난 5년간 이어온 ‘장소성’에 대한 탐구를 확장하며, “ON THE GROUND”라는 주제로 전시와 다양한 커뮤니티 프로그램을 펼칩니다.

도심 속 복잡한 전시 공간과 날것의 자연을 간직한 제주 곶자왈 숲을 오가며, 입주 작가들은 각자의 스토리를 작품과 실험을 통해 풀어내고 관객에게 질문을 던집니다.
인간의 기술로 정착한 대중적 소통 공간인 도심과, 자연 그대로의 조건을 지닌 대지 위에서, 우리는 예술이 던지는 새로운 ‘대화’를 마주하게 될 것입니다.

In 2023, Evo Media Residency expands its five-year exploration of site-specificity under the theme “ON THE GROUND”, presenting exhibitions and community programs.

Moving between complex urban exhibition spaces and the raw nature of Jeju’s Gotjawal forest, resident artists share their stories through works and experiments that invite dialogue with audiences.
By juxtaposing human-made spaces of communication with the unaltered conditions of nature, the residency seeks to explore new conversations that art can ignite.

- Unpacking Nature

2022년, 에보미디어레지던시는 ‘Unpacking Nature’라는 주제 아래, 공존의 새로운 가능성을 실험하고자 전통과 현대가 만나는 지역의 한옥 공간을 연구의 장으로 삼았습니다. 시공간의 그리드를 벗어나 자연과 인간, 관계를 재구성하며, 예술의 진화 가능성을 탐색한 한 해였습니다.

In 2022, under the theme “Unpacking Nature,” Evo Media Residency positioned a traditional hanok—where tradition and modernity intersect—as a site of inquiry into new possibilities of coexistence.

Stepping beyond spatial and temporal grids, the residency reexamined nature, humanity, and relationships, exploring the evolving potential of artistic practice.

Coexistence 2018~2021

2018년부터 2021년까지, 에보미디어레지던시는 장르 간 융합, 도시재생, 회복 등을 주제로 공존의 다양한 가능성을 실험해왔습니다.
특히 2019년부터 2021년까지는 도심 골목 깊숙한 곳, 40여 년 된 주택에서 지역민과 예술로 교감하며 ‘팔복오길’이라 이름 붙인 공간을 운영했습니다.
이 시기 레지던시는 코로나 팬데믹, 사회적 단절과 소외, 재연결과 재시작 같은 동시대적 이슈를 예술적 소통의 언어로 다뤘습니다.

“팔복동 동네의 오래된 집이 작품이 된다”는 타이틀 아래 진행된 예술 프로그램들은
‘집’이라는 사적 공간을 어떻게 사회로 환원할 수 있을지를 실험하는 역동적인 과정이자 실행이었습니다.

From 2018 to 2021, Evo Media Residency explored various dimensions of coexistence through themes such as cross-genre collaboration, urban regeneration, and restoration.

Between 2019 and 2021, the residency was based in a 40-year-old house tucked away in an alley of Jeonju’s urban fabric—a space affectionately named “Pal-O-Gil.”

There, artists and local residents engaged in artistic dialogue that responded to the societal conditions of the time: the COVID-19 pandemic, social isolation, and the search for reconnection and renewal.

Under the phrase, “An old house in Palbok-dong becomes a work of art,” the programs questioned how private, domestic spaces could be reimagined and returned to the public sphere through creative experimentation.
